We spent New Year’s Eve 2008 running around with the Graebers. First, Becky had to work, so I went with Brad & Mandy down to First Night Austin to see a 15 minute presentation of Hamlet under a bridge. It was pretty crazy…lots of fun! The encore was an under 2 minute performance, and the [...] After eating way too much turkey and other types of birds, Becky and I decided that a nice steak was in order last night. We ended up at Saltgrass and quickly realized that for some reason neither of us had ever been before. I’m not sure if it was just because we wanted red meat [...] A few nights back, we were trying to decide where we wanted to go to dinner and ended up at Plucker’s with Brad and Mandy. Brad hadn’t had dinner the night before or lunch that day, just shakes for both meals. So he was ready for something extreme! It came down to trying to eat [...] Today at the con my main goal was to get there early enough to get in line to get in the line to draw a ticket to try to get autographs of the G4 Attack of the Show folks. Last year it was just a stand-in-line-and-wait kind of deal, but I guess they are getting [...] It’s really late…after midnight here which means after 2am central. I’m still not fully adjusted, so I’m getting tired. Have to get up early for another day at Comic Con. Tonight’s post will be mostly photos with very little text, but there are LOTS of photos, so I wanted to do this now instead of [...] Today was Preview Night at Comic Con. If you have a full con pass, you get the opportunity to get your pass a day early and they also open the doors for 3 bonus hours so that you can preview all of the excitement before everyone else. Basically, an extra 3 hours of insanity before [...] Tomorrow, bright and early, we leave for 2 weeks of vacation. San Diego. California. We kind of have things less planned/scheduled than we even usually do, and we usually don’t plan much at all. It’s kind of nice. I know that we’re flying out of Austin tomorrow at 8:15am. I know that I have a full convention [...] We all went to Brad and Mandy’s last night to have dinner and watch the UFC PPV. Brad grilled chicken legs, sausage, corn-on-the-cob, and sweet potatoes. Mandy made baked beans, and Steve made ribs…all was excellent as usual! The PPV was pretty good overall. Some of the matches were lackluster, and others were spectacular. Becky had to work unfortunately, but the rest of us ended up sleeping in, and then Brad, Steve and I went Back to Red’s at around noon for some target practice. Then they wanted to look for boots, so we went down to Congress for boot shopping. [...] |
