Today was Preview Night at Comic Con. If you have a full con pass, you get the opportunity to get your pass a day early and they also open the doors for 3 bonus hours so that you can preview all of the excitement before everyone else. Basically, an extra 3 hours of insanity before the real insanity begins on Thursday. I arrived at about 3:30 and noticed that people actually already had their badges, so I went to find the line…the line was moving, so I got in it:

In just a couple of minutes I was shuttled off to the badge receiving area, along with half a billion other attendees:

A sign I saw shortly after receiving my badge:

If that’s a real product, I’m slightly frightened.
Brad showed up shortly thereafter and we hung out for a while. We decided not to get into any of the already extremely long entry lines (you have to line up to get your badge, then you line up again to wait for the doors to open to enter), and instead opted to sit on one of the balconies overlooking the harbor. Then we wandered around the convention center area where we were allowed to roam…Brad ate a bagel dog which we thought looked like a kolache but he said tasted like styrofoam.
When we eventually decided to get in line, the lines were outrageous and we basically were hosed. The doors opened at 6pm and we didn’t get in until almost 6:30. Here’s a photo from when we got separated during the mad dash once we were finally moving…can you find Brad?

Once on the convention floor, it was a lot of looking at random things, like…
And Ninja Turtle Comic Con Exclusive Action Figure Sets (only $50!!!):

A good time was had by all!
After we left, we were going to have to walk back to Brad’s hotel room carrying all of our loot, but we saw the pedicab guys standing around looking to take people wherever they needed to go. So Brad asked how much it would be to get to his hotel and the guy told him…Brad said fine, and off we went:

Unfortunately, the hotel was further than he had remembered, and he had been moving into a new place all day, AND it was pretty much uphill most of the way with two guys and bags full of con loot in the back…the poor guy was beat by the time we got to the last hill a block from the hotel. He was gassed. He was a nice guy and chatted us up along the way…hopefully he has a better time for the rest of the convention.
Tomorrow…more con!
